A huge ‘thank you’ to Amy Metz (http://abluemillionbooks.blogspot.com.au/) for tagging me in ‘The Next Big Thing’ blog hop. The way this blog hop works is for each tagged author to answer the questions about their most current book. It is my turn now to answer a set of ten questions and to tag three authors, whose blog pages are listed further below. I warmly encourage you to visit their pages next Wednesday the 17th October to find out a little more about their novels.
Here comes my own interview:
1. What is the title of
your book?
The novel, initially titled ‘Love at first bite’, is now called ‘Listen to the heartbeat’. I tossed and
tossed, and eventually decided to change it, since nobody is biting my
beautiful heroine, and the former title somehow suggested that the book was
about vampires. It is not.
2. Where did the idea come
from for the book?
Some authors claim they dream about
their book at night, and there they are, jumping out of bed the next morning,
leaping to their writing desk to scribble the main points before the
inspiration ebbs away. I’m not one of them. My ideas just pop in my head out of
the blue, and within ten minutes the whole novel sits nicely at the back of my
mind, although a contorted version invariably ends up on paper.
3. What genre does your
book fall under?
The
novel falls under the romance genre, women’s commercial fiction.
4. Which actors would you
choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
For my two heroes, I would love to
find these days a gorgeous Mel Gibson as he featured in Mad Max I in 1979 (God!
He’s so old now!) and a 30 yo Robert Redford. I am yet to think about a
beautiful heroine. But as much as my idea sounds awfully retro, I can reassure
my readers that the novel is every bit a contemporary romance.
5. What is the
one-sentence synopsis of your book?
When two powerful business tycoons
clash over an orphan’s love, one’s interests will endanger her life while the
other’s will keep her alive. Which one
will achieve what he wants?
6. Will your book be
self-published or represented by an agency?
My novel has been contracted by Musa
Publishing and is due for release on December 28th 2012.
7. How long did it take
you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
This
particular novel was my absolute record. 16 days.
8. What other books would
you compare this story to within your genre?
As much as I have an entire library
in my head, I couldn’t find any comparative novel, I’m afraid. It is not only
about the writing style, but also about the setting in the ‘ultra-rich’ world, the
plot, and many other factors that seem to make the story quite unique. Now I’m
boasting J
9. Who or What inspired
you to write this book?
I suppose it was just the drive to
keep going after I wrote a few novels, one of which is due for release, again
by Musa Publishing, in March 2013. Writing is an essential part of my life. It
keeps me afloat when I’m sad, it gives me wings when I dive.
10. What
else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
I would like to believe that my novel
has a fresh, unique style, and will take the readers through its intriguing
storylines, allowing them to follow the characters throughout the trials in
their relationships in a mix of romance, sensual tension and emotional edge. The
novel is a story of love and betrayal that brims with warmth, heartache and
tender moments, at times sprinkled with humor that will bring a smile to the
readers’ lips.
